Ripe figs are delicious eaten right off the tree or paired with fruit, cheese and honey.
Fanelli’s Fig Jam
To make fig jam, take 10 medium figs. Boil them down with 1 cup of water, 1 cup of sugar, the juice of half a lemon and a tablespoon of cinnamon. Once the mixture reaches a boil, blend using an immersion blender, simmer for another half an hour and then add one packet of pectin (Fanelli prefers the half sugar variety). This will make one 10 ounce jar of jam.
Note: Follow guidelines for canning if you’d like to preserve the jam for future use.
